The Center
for Community Ministry: This new extension of Back
Bay Mission's ministry develops faith-based leadership in order to
more fully equip the Church for creative service and pro-active
presence in communities.
Community Development and Social Change:
These ministries include the organization of new community services
to meet emerging needs and public advocacy work around issues of
social justice and concern. Current focus areas are homelessness and
affordable housing.
Mission
Education: The Mission assists United
Church of Christ members and others in analysis of social justice
issues and in clarifying the role of faithful persons in society.
Workcamping:
This ministry has experienced considerable change following the
storm. New work teams arrive weekly and are expected to tackle more
difficult projects requiring more expertise than ever.
Emergency Assistance: Back
Bay Mission directly serves the poor and struggling by providing
1) financial assistance for rent/mortgage/utility relief,
prescription drugs, transportation, 2) information/referral
services, and 3) case management.
Home at Last (HAL): HAL provides
permanent housing and supportive services to homeless, disabled persons.
Affordable
Housing: A
collaborative effort to resolve the shortage of housing for low
income persons in the area.
